Electrical Fault Finding in Badgerys Creek
Ampower Electrical recently attended an urgent Electrical Fault Finding job for Phil in Badgerys Creek, where the tenant’s granny flat had lost power due to a B phase failure.
Kris, our licensed electrician, carried out a systematic process of elimination to identify the issue and provide a temporary—but safe—solution.
What We Found
Upon arrival, our electrician immediately identified several serious hazards at the property:
- The main switchboard cover was open, unable to close properly.
- Evidence of water ingress, increasing the risk of shock and equipment failure.
- A cracked meter cover, exposing live conductors.
- A disorderly, unsafe board condition requiring urgent corrective work.
These issues pose significant electrical safety risks and must be rectified as soon as possible.
Work Completed
To restore essential power to the tenant, Kris performed the following:
- Disconnected the B Phase to the granny flat and the main switchboard.
- Rewired the granny flat circuits in the sub-board to provide temporary power.

Important Note
A follow-up visit is required. An electrician will need to return with a cable locator to fully:
- Identify the fault along the sub-mains
- Test and trace the wiring
- Perform permanent rectification of the B phase issue
